Back in Utah - Court - Win a tattoo!
April 30, 2008 by Dr. Lowrey
Kita and I got back to Utah from our Detroit trip Saturday.
We had a good visit and got our leaves raked - that took almost a week(!), visited with our kids and grandkids and parents, siblings and students. Our favorite restaurant in the world finally opened their new location which is walking distance from our house in Ferndale, so that was exciting. I’ll write more about Anita’s Kitchen later.
Today is the last day to enter the raffle to win one of 4 (up to) $200 tattoos. All the proceeds are going to pay Shandi’s attorney.
Typical to Utah, there are not many entries, so if you’d like to help Shandi, now would be a good time and the odds of winning are very good.
The prosecutor in her case is already offering a deferment but we are hoping Shandi will feel courageous enough to refuse it and demand they prove their charges in a jury trial. She and her family have suffered a lot due to the stress of these last few months since “the raid”. Her preliminary hearing is May 13 in Provo District Court, but it will be mostly just an attorney to attorney meeting to work out a deal to avoid having to prove the charges. So we hope she tells her attorney to tell the prosecutor to drop the charges completely or prove them in open court.
I go back to court May 2 - this Friday in American Fork District Court. This will also be a preliminary hearing where the attorneys dicker about with each other and not a trial.
I intend to insist on a complete withdrawal of the charges with a formal apology, after which I intend to sue their anti-American, neo-fascist asses off - or of course they can try to prove their charges in court, after which I will sue their anti-American, neo-fascist asses off.
Unfortunately, all this suing will require more attorneys and attorney fees. I hope someone will agree to take our case on contingency. Any recommendations on “meat-grinder” type attorneys would be appreciated.
While we are getting the typical apathetic, Utah support, we do want to share our great appreciation for those few brave souls who have put their hearts, money and time where their mouths are for us. So far we are getting about equal support from outside Utah as from inside, which I think just reflects the reality of the sad state of social and religious oppression in Utah.
The “Zion Curtain” is very strong here and only the most titillating news escapes Utah’s borders. Sadly, since our news doesn’t involve, child rape, murder or psycho pedophile prophets, we don’t seem to merit the attention of the news servers like the Associated Press, who told me that if we weren’t a gun toting, polygamous offshoot of the Mormon Church, he wasn’t interested, but if a bloody massacre ensued to call him back! News, that makes Utah Government look bad, just doesn’t escape the Utah border, while inside Utah Government abuse of the citizenry is just seen as “ho hum” business as usual.
So, if you are outside Utah, please call your local media and ask them to visit this site and cover our story.
Utah only takes appropriate action when people outside Utah show their disapproval.
