On the (Mormon) Word of Wisdom
Dr. Gregory Lowrey
Here I describe the LDS (Mormon) Law of Diet called the Word of Wisdom contained in the LDS canon scripture the “Doctrine and Covenants” section 89, purported to be dictated directly by Jesus Christ, revealing the “order and will of God” regarding diet.
In Mormon tradition, the “order… of [...]

A Native-American grandfather was talking to his grandson about how he felt.
He said, “I feel as if I have two wolves fighting in my heart. One wolf is the vengeful, angry, violent one. The other wolf is the loving, compassionate one.”
The grandson asked him, “Which wolf will win the fight [...]

From a Western Voices reader: Behavior like these raids is symptomatic of the politicization and militarization of the police, largely because of the infiltration of leadership echelons by officials who have been co-opted by special interest groups like the ADL, SPLC and others, offering free ideological “training” to departments nationwide in order to transform our [...]

It is so hard for the Mormons I run into lately, the Mayor, the AF City Counsel, etc. to understand how Whole Life Ministries can be a church. According to the supposedly highly educated, temple going LDS priest, Kasey Wright - AF Legal Counsel - “You’re not a church” (snigger) “You’re a tattoo shop!” (snigger). [...]

Bitter like a lemon drop
Caught in my own web of lies and deception
Lies I tell myself
Lies that keep me imprisoned in the hell my own heart creates
Out of string and dust and candle wax and flowers long since dead
Enter temptation
Temptation to flee
To feel happy again
To smile in the sunny days of new love
To fly with [...]

From Tattoo History Source Book:
Tattooing has been discouraged or forbidden by most Christian churches throughout history. A passage in Leviticus reads: “Ye shall not make any cuttings on your flesh for the dead nor print any marks upon you.” (19:2 This has generally been interpreted as a prohibition of tattooing, and cited as biblical [...]

The short answer is that Mormons, especially in Utah are religiously stuck-up. You all know it - “The only true church” - “God’s in embryo” stuff…
Here in Utah where the Mormons are the majority they insist that their religious values are the only valid values. And the majority of Mormons in Utah refuse to accept [...]

When R Sen. Chris Buttars isn’t busy making racist comments about”ugly black babies (without real regret) forbidding Gay rights in Utah, or proposing that creationism is taught in Utah public schools, he is busy trying to legally withhold vital information about police misconduct.
I find his intent to deny others of their civil rights blatantly evil, anti-American and bigoted. [...]

One of my most favorite parts of reading newspapers online is the comments. There are so many different ways to look at every issue and having the public input has in my opinion made the news so much more interesting and informative. I learn a lot from reading the different perspectives expressed by individuals who [...]
